"Boris Karloff" in Dick Tracy??

Post by Tygercat on Sat Nov 01, 2014 6:01 pm

The current storyline of the classic comic strip "Dick Tracy" includes a take on the play/film "Arsenic and Old Lace", with the Tracy villain "Gruesome" reappearing with the facial appearance of our old friend, Boris Karloff! This is nice because Karloff actually did play the role of the murderous Jonathan in the stage version, although this role was taken by Raymond Massey for the film. And, yes, the strip even has a Peter Lorre- look alike, too. This has always been one of my favorite plays; I personally think Rich would make a splendid Uncle Teddy Wink

Hello Tygercat !

Just discovered that you're on the SvenForum. Anyway, I'd like to point out a REALLY distant connection, that I personally have to the Dick Tracy comic strip.
A distant cousin of my mother's, married a young architect, now deceased, who designed a house for Chester Gould, now deceased, back in the 1960s. Of course, CG was the originator of Dick Tracy. Tada ! (Yeah, I know it sounds tenuous, but, I do have the proof, not wanting to list names here, if taken to court.)
