Koz recalled his first encounter with the fan convention:

"After hearing friends in the entertainment and comic business bemoan what other comics conventions had become, when C2E2 was first brought to Chicago, I went to the first one as a fan and liked what they were trying to do. I agreed to appear there the next year. I think the C2E2 folks, who really weren't familiar with me, were surprised by the turnout for my signing, and that was before we went national."

Koz shared the kind of wild enthusiasm fans have for him, which includes the people who come up during conventions to show off their "very elaborate tattoos of Svengoolie ... Even my own family wouldn't do something like that!"

Koz, after suffering a recent health crisis, has plenty more fun to share with the world. He explained, "Having just survived a massive heart attack and more or less returning from the dead, I must be here for a purpose -- even if that purpose is to be the target of rubber chickens. I will most likely continue [as Svengoolie] for a few more years to come."

A great article! While I won't go so far as to get a Sven tattoo, I couldn't agree more about his natural charm, and am pleased to hear that he will continue on for a while to come as Svengoolie!
