MBC - An Evening with Rich Koz, 10/10/14

I'm going to try to attend this event - whether or not I will do the VIP treatment is still up in the air!

This sounds wonderful! Wish we could attend! Congrats to Rich!

It was quite an evening about 300-350 did come for the celebration. My guess about a quarter of those who attended were part of the private reception, which included myself.  

Rich came as Sven along a number of others from the station.  Superdawg of Chicago and Wheeling provided the private reception guests with hotdogs and fries and you can put whatever you like on the dog along with a can of pop.

The at 7:00 Bruce Dumont did the welcome and got everything started.

City of Chicago alderman (running for mayor) Robert Fioretti gave the City of Chicago proclamation of Rich Koz day along with State of Illinois Rep Kay Hatcher gave the Illinois Resolution of Rich Koz Day. Funny Kay who says she watches Sven mispronounced his last name.

The evening continued with a salute from Neal Sabin Vice Chairman of Weigel Broadcasting, a speech from Dave Plier of MBC and WGN radio and an Interview with Melissa Foreman and Jeanne Sparrow of  WCIU.  Then the new Svengoolie display was revealed followed by the costume contest and the movie Beginning of the end was shown.  

It was quite an evening.

AWESOME!!!! sounds like a great turnout and lots of fun! hope to see pictures soon.. and video! I'm sure Sven will have clips on his show soon.

So Svengoolie sometimes wears a different lapel pin at public events... got good pics of it this time and posted a question to him about the story of this particular pin as we fans all know how he got the 1994 Hallmark pin... hope he will give some insight... 

I believe he said that some young fans made this for him- unfortunately, can't quite remember where. He previously wore it to an event at the Squared Circle, the one when his wrestler friend tried and failed to eat the SvengoolieBurger and what appeared to be a triple order of fries...

Thanks Tygercat! glad to hear you knew something about it... wasn't sure if it was another Hallmark pin or what... was curious as to why he uses it for public events... maybe just to change things up but since the MBC museum event was about his television show I would have thought he would wear his usual pin... unless this is a different tux jacket that fits him better than the studio one and he leaves the pins in place on each jacket perhaps.   I guess he missed my question about it.

FoS- Sven might have just missed your question, his blog comments are getting huge and hard to follow, the Facebook page possibly worse. AND it's his busy season! If I come across the full explanation I will pass it on.

Actually, I have been wondering myself about the tux jacket, sometimes it appears looser, sometimes not. He has lost weight (good for him !) , and maybe has gotten another with a better fit? Hard to tell when you can only see someone on TV from about the waist up.

I've tried to get people to use this forum for its chat feature on Saturday nights. In days of old, when the Yahoo Groups were big, we used to chat during the Sven shows in real time. It was fun.
