The return of MST3K
That's right, MST3K is coming to National Geographic Television. From the Huffington Post:
The beloved gang behind "Mystery Science Theater 3000" is returning to television on the very fitting day of April Fools, April 1. (Starting at 7:00 PM CDT.)
Featuring a hapless man and two robots watching bad movies while making jokes at the films' expense, the cult series ran for 11 seasons and a total of 198 episodes. It was one of the longest-running sitcoms of all time, won a Peabody award and was nominated for multiple Emmys. Since the series' cancellation in 1999, Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett have kept their comedy alive and their fans happy on Rifftrax.com.
Next Tuesday, the trio (with Murphy as Tom Servo and Corbett as Crow T. Robot) is set to crack their jokes on National Geographic. "Total Riff Off" will comprise of three episodes, each an hour long, featuring classic clips from National Geographic shows.
From natgeo:
On April 1st, the guys from "Mystery Science Theater 3000" and RiffTrax are adding their very own commentary to classic National Geographic Channel programs, featuring excerpts from "Honey Badgers," "Unlikely Animal Friends," "Man v. Monster," "Swamp Men," "Alpha Dogs," and more!

Disappointing. Bummer, they didn't have the theater seat backs with the silhouettes of the riffers. And, the comments weren't great. It was like sitting around with your buddies, drinking beer and commenting. Not the old REAL satirical stuff.

Re: The return of MST3K
Shoot - I forgot about it, but it doesn't sound like I missed much.
I did notice yesterday that a Mel Brooks movie was on TCM that I hadn't seen in a million years, so I DVR'd "The Twelve Chairs" so I can watch it agian - maybe this weekend!

Rifftrax Live event.
Link to the eventI have seen a number of live shows the in the theaters.
The Last one was Santa Claus Conquers the Martians in December.
Sadly the Cinematic Titanic group of Joel Hodgson, J Elvis Weinstein, Frank Conniff, Trace Beaulieu, and Mary Jo Pehl who did a couple of Chicago shows, (I seen one in Elgin a couple years ago) no longer produce live shows. I do have there DVDs. They are very good.
